Gerdy Chevelon
Gerdy Chevelon is a writer/arranger of percussion music and has also served as a percussion instructor for multiple programs/institutions. At age 7 is when Mr.Chevelon first started to take interest in percussion and by 6th grade is when he began to take his craft more seriously playing in his middle school band for 3 years at Millennium Middle School. After his time in middle school we would continue his percussion journey Piper High School where he spent all 4 years of high school honing his skills, becoming a section leader his junior and senior as well as receiving multiple superior ratings at solo and ensemble. After graduating high school he join the band staff at Fort Lauderdale High School serving as percussion director from January 2018 to June 2023. During his time there section was able to gain multiple superior ratings in marching and concert evaluations including a superior in 2023 at State Solo and Ensemble. The percussion section was also able to receive a multitude of awards and Top 3 placements at drumline competitions under his leadership as well. After his time at Fort Lauderdale he would transition over to his alma mater Piper High School in the fall of 2023 as percussion director bringing the section to new heights in both the marching and competition season Along with his time as a high school percussion instructor he also serves as Assistant Director of Percussion at Florida Memorial University since 2021.
